About Cedar Lifestyle:

Cedar Lifestyle are a UK-based candle and homewares brand that make beautiful soy wax scented candles housed in recyclable glass jars. Their branding is minimal and clean and the scents are well put-together.  We’re fans of the Neroli and Ylang Ylang.

Fair Pay and Good Working Conditions:

All of Cedar’s suppliers are UK-based and family run businesses.  Although for a small number of the ingredients used by Cedar, these are sourced from overseas. Cedar is working with their direct suppliers to gain confirmation on the working standards at source.

Sustainable / Organic Materials:

Cedar use use soy wax in their candle which is a much cleaner burn than traditional oil deprived waxes such as paraffin. Unlike most soy candles, Cedar Lifestyle use a European grown soy wax which is GMO free and has the highest environmental credentials. There are plans to further improve the eco credentials of their way by moving over to UK grown rapeseed wax.

At present, Cedar use plastic lids on their candles but are in the process of switching over to aluminum ones which can be recycled.

Sustainable Practices:

Cedar candles are paraben and phthalate free. They currently use a mixture of fragrance oils (synthetic) and organic essential oils (natural). Note that there is a delicate trade-off between using fragrance oils and essential oils, synthetic doesn’t necessarily mean ‘bad’ and essential oil extraction can sometimes be unsustainable particularly for at risk plant species. Where Cedar use essential oils, they use sustainable options.

Animal Welfare:

All Cedar ingredients are vegan-friendly.

Packaging:

All postal packaging is recycled or plastic free. Recycled kraft gift boxes are offered as a free optional extra.

Social Responsibility:

All Cedar candles are made in small batches which means they do not rely on sales to clear excess stock for cashflow reasons.

Cedar give customers a card with suggested ideas on how they can re-use and recycle jars and regular customers can return their candle jars at markets in return for a 20% discount.

Charity / Community Contributions:

Cedar occasionally holds sample sales to raise money for charities, such as Wires Wildlife Rescue.
