About Studio Knot:

Manchester-based Studio Knot is a modern art & design studio that creates bespoke rugs and flooring tailored to their customers’ interior vision. Their approach is rooted in conceptual thought and contemporary art to create exciting rugs that are grounded by production excellence and ancestral craft. This bespoke approach is applied to private residential projects right through to large scale hospitality projects.  Using innovative materials such as recycled PET from plastic bottles and natural yarns such as, wool, hemp and bamboo, Studio Knot rugs are sustainably-made and unique.

Fair Pay and Good Working Conditions:

Studio Knot are fully opposed to unfair labour of any nature and are committed to creating ethical rugs and working towards a better future for the industry and carpet-weaving families across the globe.

They are a full member of Goodweave, a not-for-profit organization that ensures ethical working practices within their partner mills. Studio Knot work with Goodweave to fully eradicate child labour in the carpet industry and only create ethical handmade rugs.

Sustainable / Organic Materials:

Studio Knot only ever use sustainable yarns for every sample and rug they produce. Their yarns include, sustainably-farmed New Zealand and Nepalese wool, and recycled PET which is repurposing plastic waste into a material that can be used to create bespoke high-end rugs. They also use hemp, bamboo and nettle yarn for various rugs.

Sustainable Practices:

Studio Knot only use vegetable and natural dyes. This is to protect the local and surrounding ecosystems to the mills that they use.

Their rugs are delivered using their partnered courier option DHL who offset the carbon emissions for each rug they transport.

Studio Knot do not hold rug stock. Everything they create as a studio is bespoke and to the required volume needed for that project, eliminating unnecessary waste.

Animal Welfare:

Studio Knot are working with Wools of New Zealand towards a fully transparent supply chain to ensure that they only use suppliers that treat their animals with high regard, who work to protect the environment and have a low carbon footprint.

Packaging:

During transportation, Studio Knot rugs are wrapped in recycled plastic and they re-use packaging wherever possible. They use hessian as the final outer protection for their rugs. which is a biodegradable fabric.

Charity / Community Contributions:

Studio Knot donate a portion of their profits back into Goodweave and all of their rugs have Goodweave stickers with serial numbers for authentication.
