About h.huna

Inspired by the efforts of her grandmother to make her first communion dress, Siobhan founded h.huna - a small scale womenswear brand with a passion for local manufacturing and natural fabrics.  Their current collection is a capsule of versatile womenswear, including a brushed wool crew neck sweater made in Scotland and organic cotton short sleeved white shirt.

Fair Pay and Good Working Conditions

h.hunahave manufacturers in London and Scotland, which they visit regularly. They only work only with mills that they have direct contact with to trace the background and source of their yarns and fabric โ€“ for example Oxford cotton weaved in Portugal and grown in Turkey.

Sustainable / Organic Materials

h.huna only use natural materials or circular synthetics (recycled synthetics which can further be recycled) in their wares.  Their cotton comes from manufacturers that are part of the Better Cotton initiative โ€“ an initiative that takes a holistic approach to cotton manufacture from environmental, social and economic viewpoints.

They use some organic cotton although this is not certified.

Sustainable Practices

h.huna use a number of end of line fabrics in their wares and when choosing fabrics they look for materials that can be cut various ways to reduce waste. Their woolen yarns are dyed using local waters and natural dyes. This water is then cleaned and released back into local waters.

Animal Welfare

h.huna lambswool is sourced from Scotland, where the yarns are spun and the garments are made also.  h.huna wool comes from a mixture of sources, some of which are mulesing free sources and some which are not verified as mulesing free.

Sustainable Packaging

h.huna use recycled card swing tags, recycled polyester care labels, recycled kraft envelopes and recycled kraft wrapping as part of their packaging.

Social Responsibility

h.huna garments are modelled on a size 10 model and priced fairly in line with British manufacture prices.

Charity / Community Contributions

It is important to h.huna to keep all manufacture of their wares and fabrics in the UK/Scotland to utilize local talent. They liaise with fellow small brands in virtual pop up markets to connect and reflect upon small business talent. They recently contributed 10% of sales to Age UK.
